Bus company gives staff the boot
Every employee at a Paisley bus company has been given the boot.
Bosses at Lippen Coaches have sent out letters to all 20 of its drivers, mechanics and administration staff to tell them the company is set to be wound up.
They are now in a 30-day consultation period with the workers about their future.
Lippen has been a familiar name on the transport scene throughout Renfrewshire for the last 25 years, with buses operating on various routes through Paisley town centre, Foxbar, Linwood and Johnstone, as well as to Silverburn shopping centre.
Some employees have been with the company for more than 20 years.
Yesterday, one angry driver told the Paisley Daily Express: “This decision came completely out of the blue. We are all shocked. They just sent the letters out without any warning.

That’s a really rough deal, feel for the workers and their family..
Ourtoon Johnstone contacted SPT and they said this:
“SPT has spoken to Lippen Coaches and they have said that the report in the Paisley Daily Express is incorrect and that they are continuing to operate their services as they are currently registered and are not seeking to arrangements with other operators to run Lippen’s services.”
“There are to be some internal management and possibly legal structural changes in the company and this has necessitated informing drivers of these changes with a “30 day Consultation Notice”.
“SPT closely monitors the operation of all local bus services in its area and works with the bus industry to ensure that the provision of the network of services is preserved as much as possible when an operator either gives notice that they are going to withdraw their services or suddenly ceases to trade.”
“Therefore the services being provided by Lippen Coaches are continuing and there should be no disruption to bus passengers journeys.”
So there are to be some changes for the drivers then. But at the moment, everything still running the same as before?
aye, so it seems
