Driver admits causing OAP’s death
A callous motorist who fled the scene of a horror accident leaving a pensioner lying dying on the road told witnesses: I have to go and pick up my bird.
Scott Robert McAusland shouldnt even have been behind the wheel when he mowed down tragic Lewis Grocott, 74, in George Street, Paisley causing his death.
For the 25-year-old driver had taken the car without the owners permission and was also uninsured.
Yesterday, Paisley Sheriff Court heard that McAusland had stopped momentarily after the accident.
But, instead of helping his victim as he lay fatally injured on the road, the accused was overheard saying he had to leave to collect his girlfriend.
McAusland, of Todholm Terrace, Paisley, was arrested by police close to the accident scene just minutes later.

That’s awfull
