Trial set over hero soldier death

A 28-year-old man is to stand trial accused of murdering a serving soldier once decorated for his bravery.

Barry McGrory is accused of repeatedly stabbing Paul McGee, 28, in McConnell Road, Lochwinnoch, Renfrewshire, on 25 October last year.

Co-accused Ian Wallace, 28, is charged with assaulting the Scots Guardsman on the same evening.

At a preliminary hearing at the High Court in Glasgow Lord Bonomy adjourned the case for trial until next month.
