Welcome to Johnstone Toon

We are a small and very friendly group of people with a desire to share the beauty and history of Johnstone Town located in Renfrewshire.

Originally called www.johnstonetown.co.uk the site and concept was the idea of  Peter Kerr and was created in January 2006.

The site was intended for those living in the Johnstone and Renfrewshire area but before we knew it we had an Aussie, A Canadian with a Johnstone past, Johnstone people in Ireland and yes, Scots that got lost and ended up living in England!

The original site had a mix of content from pot hole reporting to a lottery generater.

So how did this site form, well due to the sudden passing of Peter Kerr, members were saddened, but all decided that it would be a lovely idea to keep the site alive in memory of Peter. Peter was a very quiet man, who loved being on his computer creating websites and sharing his knowledge with others (the original forum used to have a computer and web building help section!!!).

Peter’s nickname on the forum was “toon”  so that’s why we use the word TOON and not TOWN in the sites web address.

Pete is resting in peace now, he shall never be forgotten and this site will remain a tribute to our ‘toon’ and our ‘town’, just like he would have wanted.

Photo uploading is much enjoyed, we all like to see how this beautiful little town of Johnstone looks may that be now, or in the past.
