US President Barack Obama helps Renfrewshire pupil with school project

A primary pupil in Renfrewshire is the toast of his class after he got a helping hand with a school project from US president Barack Obama. Eight-year-old Robert Robertson, from Linwood, near Paisley, decided to write to the US leader after he was asked to get in touch with someone in a different country.

A young woman was injured when she got caught up in a row with two female queue jumpers at a town centre taxi rank. During a war of words the 26-year-old was brutally assaulted by the pair and suffered injuries including a suspected broken wrist.
